The National Certificate in Agricultural Production (NCAP) is a comprehensive, practice-oriented program designed to equip learners with the knowledge, competencies, and hands-on skills required to thrive in modern, sustainable agriculture. The course targets holders of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent from recognized institutions and is assessed by the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB). The program produces competent agricultural practitioners, technicians, and entrepreneurs capable of driving food security, agribusiness development, and rural transformation. Graduates are prepared to manage farm enterprises, serve as extension officers, or establish their own agricultural businesses.
The program aims to: • Equip learners with practical skills and technical knowledge for sustainable agricultural enterprises. • Develop competence in crop and livestock production, soil management, and mechanization. • Instill agribusiness and entrepreneurial skills for self-employment. • Promote environmental stewardship and sustainable farming practices. • Prepare graduates for roles in extension services, farm management, and agribusiness development.
Core Outcomes By the end of the course, graduates will be able to: • Manage farm enterprises effectively and sustainably. • Apply modern techniques in crop and livestock production. • Operate and maintain farm machinery and structures safely. • Implement agroforestry and eco-friendly farming practices. • Provide extension services and technical support to farming communities. • Establish and grow agribusiness ventures that enhance food security and livelihoods.
