The National Certificate in Automotive Mechanics is designed to provide trainees with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for automotive service, maintenance, and repair. The program emphasizes the competencies outlined in the official automotive curriculum of the National Curriculum Development Centre. A strong focus is placed on Health and Safety Management Systems, ensuring trainees develop improved Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (OHSE) awareness and adopt best practices in the workplace. The course targets holders of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent from recognized institutions. Assessment is conducted by the National Assessment Body (UVTAB). Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded a certificate confirming their competence as professional automotive mechanics, ready for employment or entrepreneurship in the automotive industry.
The program aims to: • Equip learners with competence-based technical skills for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing motor vehicles. • Instill strong OHSE awareness and adherence to workplace safety standards. • Provide knowledge in fabrication, machining, and component assembly. • Develop expertise in automotive electrical and electronic systems. • Strengthen reporting, budgeting, and operational planning skills. • Introduce business management strategies to support entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.
